Windows Proxy Documentation

Warning Remote access is no longer available by proxy. At this time, only the databases listed here in Italics can be accessed off-campus. Some may require a username/password which is noted beside the database on that page. We hope to restore remote access for all.

Prerequisites

NOTE: You MUST have done the following before you can set up your TJ Proxy

  1. Log in at a TJHSST-provided Windows Computer (Laptop or Desktop)

Clear Cache

Follow the screenshots below to clear your Edge cache.

  1. Open Edge.

  3. Click the menu button (three dots, horizontally).

  5. Click "Settings."

  7. Click "Choose what to clear."

  9. Make sure "Cached data and files" is checked. You may wish to uncheck the other checkboxes.

Configure Proxy

Follow the screenshots below to configure the database proxy on Windows.

  1. Click the Start menu icon. The Start menu appears.

  3. In the search field, search "internet options" and click on the first result.

  5. A window will open. Choose the "Connections" tab.

  7. In the "Connections" tab, click on "LAN Settings."

  9. In the "LAN Settings" popup, check the box "Use automatic configuration script"

  11. In the "Address" field, type https://pac.tjhsst.edu/.
  12. Proxy address.PNG

  13. Click "OK" and then "OK" again.

Test It Out

Note: You MUST use the database links provided at https://sites.google.com/view/tjlibraryresources/ejournals-databases

  1. Open Edge.
  2. Navigate to the Library Databases page and click "Access Science"

  4. You may be presented with a password prompt. If so, type the username and password you use on windows computers.

  6. If you see the words "Thomas Jefferson High School," you have correctly set up the database proxy.
