Spine was a Cisco Catalyst 2908XL switch, which used to be the lab's main switch. It connected directly to the servers, and also interconnected the other switches (which were three Linksys Etherfast 16-port 10/100 switches). In February of 2003, the Syslab's Cisco switch was fried since all three power supplies were required for power to be redundant, and this knowledge was not known. The lab was converted to using 10Mb/s switches for a while. Sometime after this the lab acquired a Cisco 4006,[1]
