Boom

Boom (pre-1996 - ??) was a Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) Personal DECStation 2000/25 with a 25MHz R3000 CPU, 16MB of RAM and 300MB disk space. It ran DEC Ultrix 4.2A, with a number of packages replaced by GNU and 4.4BSD-Lite code. It had a 17" color display and rran the X Window System Version 11 Release 6. Boom was the main NFS server for user home directories, at least for the 1995-1996 school year[1], but this responsibility was moved to the SPARCservers. After being fileserver Boom was kept for storage for projects and source code, and was the primary DNS server and secondary mail server for the lab (1996-1997)[2].
