TJFinger was a set of finger programs that worked together in order to combine the login information from multiple hosts. It is rather similar to GNU Finger. In fact, it would not have been written this program if GNU Finger compiled. Unfortunately, having been last updated some time in 1993, GNU Finger did not compile on our Slackware 7.0 systems.
Well, Ilia Mirkin was a student at the Thomas Jefferson Hich School for Science and Technology. TJFinger was to be used the Computer Systems Lab, so since we call the school TJ more commonly than TJHSST, he thought it would be a good idea to have that in the name.
The instructions are included inside the archive. This will work on Redhat 6.0 and Slackware 7.0 systems (since this has not been developed since 20 May 2000 and that is what the Syslab ran, that is what TJFinger runs on.
TJfinger had 5 1.x.y releases from 1.0.2 to 1.0.4 and 1.1.0 and 1.1.1:
- TJFinger 1.1.1 - 17 March 2001
- TJFinger 1.1.0 - 24 September 2000
- TJFinger 1.0.4 - 21 May 2000
- TJFinger 1.0.3 - 5 May 2000
- TJFinger 1.0.2 - 22 April 2000
- TJFinger, 20 May 2000. 3 October 2010
