Franklin was bought around Thanksgiving 2006 for the lab. It was bought along with Bottom, which is currently a VM server. Franklin is named after Benjamin Franklin, the first Postmaster General of the United States. Franklin is currently a VM server

Franklin/Xray/Top is currently a VM server.
For a while, Franklin was renamed Xray, as it was used as a Sun Ray server for Lab 23; it ran Solaris 10 release 4.
Franklin uses Zimbra to allow students and faculty to access mail. This replaces the old SquirrelMail system. Students wanting to access their old mail can go to https://mail.tjhsst.edu/oldmail/, and students wanting to access their current mail and want to use SquirrelMail can go to https://mail.tjhsst.edu/newmail/. Students may also migrate their old mail to Franklin at https://mail.tjhsst.edu/migrate/.
