Amanda-afs is an extension for AMANDA to allow for backing up of AFS data in the AMANDA system. It consists of a few C programs to bind to the AFS function calls, and a perl script to act as a wrapper to GNU tar. AMANDA must be recompiled with the wrapper script specified in the configure command in order to use amanda-afs.

Instructions for how to set up and use amanda-afs are in the README and INSTALL files in the source. The 'selfcheck-patch' referenced in the INSTALL file is already included in the debian packages for AMANDA, so you do not need to apply it.

Unfortunately, a few bugs and issues in general were found while setting up amanda-afs, so the idea of using the program has been scrapped. Instead the current system for backing up AFS data is used in its place.
